Eyelash Extensions

Guide to Eyelash Extensions

Eyelash extensions are used to enhance the length, curliness, fullness, and thickness of natural eyelashes. The extensions may be made from several materials including mink, synthetic, or horse hair. The main method of applying the extensions on is by using an adhesive glue to individually bond them to the eyelashes one-by-one or many to one. This is to prevent the eyelashes from sticking together. False eyelashes and eyelash extensions are not the same.

Pre- Eyelash Extensions Care

Please see the details below before booking an eyelash extension appointment.

Eyelash extension’s can not take place if you have the following conditions:

Conjunctivitis, Cataracts, Glaucoma, Styes, Alopecia, Blepharitis or are undergoing chemotherapy.
You can not have eyelash extensions if you have had an eye operation within the last 6 months this also includes laser eye surgery.
If you have scarring to the eye area, eyelash extension cannot take place till after the scarred area has been healed for at least 6 months.
Please do not wear contact lens to your appointment, they cannot be worn directly afterwards either. Bring a friend or your glasses, we don’t mind!
If you wear glasses please bring these with you so we can make sure there is room for your lashes to grow.
Do not wear any eye make up to your appointment as the chemical’s in your make up may re-act with the chemicals in the eyelash glue and may not stick to your lash or cause a reaction.
When applying eyelashes we will take the following into consideration, Your eye shape, the curve of the natural lash, the length of your lash, your hair colour, your lifestyle and any personal exceptions.
If you have fair / light hair your eyelashes will have to be tinted 24hrs before eyelashes can be applied as the professional glue we use is black.
Please inform me if you suffer with claustrophobia or have any neck or other health issues or problems.

After-Eyelash Extension’s Care

Do not visit a steam room / sauna or go swimming for 48 hrs after. After this time keep visits to a minimum as the heat can affect your eyelash extensions.

Do not touch your eyelashes for 24 hrs after the treatment, or get them wet for 24 hrs. This is so the adhesive will fully dry.
Avoid hot showers for the next 48 hrs after treatment. Quick cool showers / baths are best
Do not rub your eyes excessively.
Do not use oil based eye makeup remover. When removing eye makeup use a cotton bud near to the lash line to prevent damaging the bond.
Mascara is not necessary, however if you choose to wear it only apply to the tips and not near the base. Only use a water based mascara that has been developed to be used with eyelash extensions.
Do not wear any water proof mascara.
Eyelash curlers are not necessary, as these can damage the eyelash extensions and cause them to lose shape.
Depending on our own natural lash growth cycle and how well you follow the after care advice you will need infills approximately every 2 to 3 weeks.
